advert analysis

Here is an example of some work from Brownstone for the cambridge police force giving information on what a hate crime is and how to prevent it. this poster shows hands covering someones face in back and white, showing the sadness of the crime in question, the info and logos on the front are bright, however, showing that with the help of this company things can get brighter.

the phone number is in massive letters and in white to highly contrast with the rest of the poster and to make it stand out massively because of how dark the ad is.

the way it is laid out people are going to look at the speech bubble first and get the context of the ad as quickly as possible. our eyes are then drawn to the background and we see how sad the situation is, we then see a way to solve it and it makes us feel inclined to be changed by the ad.

this ad campaign is aimed specifically at a local area, Cambridge, so this ad will be quite small scale.

(additional point that the formatting on the text in the speech bubble is really strange, not sure if that was intentional but i doubt it, you can tell that this company is fairly small or new to the business because of that)

here is an example of some work from 'on agency' the advert here is to promote the NCPCC during the easter period. the advert here has used many techniques to tell you exactly what it wants to, the fonts used in the lower box almost look handwritten, like a child has written it, this makes the ad more appealing to children, thats the main demographic of this advert, the cracked egg also plays into that point by being a reference to a well known and loved chldrens story, humpty dumpty, another way of making it appealing.

as i was explaining about the previous ad, the way the color is used is very specific with the color very vivid in the foreground and black and white in the background. this gives an effect of the sadness in the background can be a thing of the past with the help of the charity.

these ads are being shown all across the UK, making this a very large scale advert that should attempt to appeal to a large variety of people within the target audience, this is why the ad has things that any child would be able to undertand.
